Academie Middle Ground

Discover the magic of horses in a supportive, small-group setting! Our programs are designed for children and youth ages 4–18, offering private, semi-private, and group sessions to match every learner’s needs.

From after-school groups (Level 1+), to home-learner mornings (grades 4–12), to personalized lessons for those wanting extra guidance, there’s something for every stage of the horsemanship journey.

Looking for fun on weekends or school breaks? Join us for Saturday Mini-Camps and School Closure/Pro-D Day Camps—perfect for students who want to enjoy the group experience outside of the classroom.

At Back to Basiks, we teach the whole horse experience—building confidence, connection, and skills that go far beyond the saddle!

Unplugged-Flex Dayz

Our small-group sessions are designed for semi-independent children and youth ages 4–10 and 10–13. With options for 1:3, 1:5, and 1:8 support ratios, students can enjoy leisure and recreation activities with the guidance they need in a safe, welcoming environment.

Afternoons include homework help, snacks, and fun activities such as swimming, skating, and community outings. Most importantly, it’s a place to relax, recharge, and burn off energy after the school day—before heading home for dinner.

Programs run weekly on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday afternoons. Families can also add on Unplugged/Flex Dayz, offering extra community experiences alongside our membership programs.

T.E.A.R. Fight Club/Supported M.M.A.

Join us Tuesday mornings for a small-class experience designed for Home Learning students who benefit from extra support and a welcoming environment. Students will complete academics, enjoy physical education, active games, and explore Mixed Martial Arts in a safe, inclusive setting.

This program is also available during Winter Break, March Break, Summer Break, and Pro-D/School Closure Days. Camp days include mini-classes, arts & crafts, snacks, lunch, active games, and a social hour focused on teamwork, communication, and self-discovery.

Led by K.J.—a martial artist with over 20 years of experience and five black belts across five disciplines—this program introduces children to martial arts in a fun, supportive space, perfect for those who may not thrive in larger class settings.

Therapeutic Horsemanship is about much more than the horse…

Every new skill a child explores is an opportunity to build confidence. A passion for horses offers something truly unique—an irreplaceable connection that can’t be found anywhere else.

Many children (and adults) struggle with reading emotions, regulating feelings, and finding the motivation to do hard things. Working alongside horses helps students move past fears, overcome challenges, and experience the joy of building a relationship with a powerful yet gentle animal. This approach has proven especially beneficial for children with special needs, trauma, adoption, separation, and also provides enrichment for gifted learners.

Horses are remarkable teachers—communicating mostly through subtle body language. Learning to “listen” to them helps children develop empathy, patience, and emotional awareness that carry into all areas of life.

Activities you can work on together…

The Power of Community
While our programs encourage children to grow as independent learners, we also create special opportunities to build recreation skills and connections with others. After all, life is better when shared.

Through Outdoor Adventures, Fight Club, Swim Club, and Community Awareness, students discover they are not alone in their struggles—and that their successes are even sweeter when celebrated together. As someone who grew up twice-exceptional, I know how important it is to find peers who understand, support, and accept you for who you are.

Watching students start with the basics, grow into advanced skills, and blossom into confident, self-advocating young people is what makes this work so meaningful. The power of the group is transformative—and it’s something we proudly nurture every day.
