KJ IS IN CONSTRUCTION RIGHT NOW, BE KIND, ALLOW FOR SPACE AND TIME FOR PROCESSING, AND STAY TUNED FOR DIFFERENT, BUT AMAZING PROGRAMS FOR 2025-2030.

In 2019-2021 we did a HUGE intake of kiddos that were aged 6-16 as we navigated Covid. The Students in my program got use to “Mixed” aged Sessions as there just was not a lot of people out and comfortable attending Recreational Programming. We found an amazing groove with a GREAT group of Kiddos. My main group at this time was 10-18 overall so we kept taking on more kiddos in this range from 2021-2024.

We had consistent work, consistent relationships, fun moments, moments with tears, and the most beautiful part as they turn into 13-21 year olds is a lot of them can now we friends, and support each other through the next phase of their lives. COMMUNITY, and Exploring who you are, finding your interests, and what your passionate about. That is what this is all about.

Then comes the “Letting go” stage that I did not anticipate. 2024 taught me that even though I did not expect it all at one time, my job is to Mentor them into not needing me anymore.

KJ is taking things slow for WINTER/SUMMER 2025 and working on themselves and Gearing our for another round of kiddos 6-16, another good group of students that till be here for 2-3-6-or 10 years, more students you will love, teach, be apart of and then? Have to let go again as the season of their lives change.

Mentoring Children/Youth through important developmental Stages of their lives

WHY SO MANY TEENS? WHY MIXED AGES? WHAT AM I EVEN LOOKING AT?

@Back2Basiks our programs are set up to meet the needs of the individual kiddos in that Semester/Season/Day. We tailor over 52 options of programming, combine ideas, add new goals and pull from pervious Sessions to make hybrids of past offerings, and meet the current needs for the Mentee’s we have Infront of us for this Season.

As a 2Ex3ND (Twice Exceptional with 3 different types of Neurologically Atypical Brain functioning) KJ definitely is not for everyone. This has been the same since they were very young around age 4. You either Fell in love with them, or they were not for you and that is 1000% OK :)

KJ has always been innovative, ahead of their time, and exploring Alternative ways to care for children. While others were attending Soccer camps, KJ was attending Entrepreneurship camps and had dreams of a safe space that would allow people to come and grow, somewhere they felt a sense of belonging, and a place to GROW.

The Youth in our Programs have been attending for a while, they LOVE what they do, and if they are in session with your JR (AGES 4-10) then they are there to handle a horse, help with games, and participate in the program. They were 4-10 at one point and remember how fun it was to play dodge ball with the “BIG KIDS”. We have 19+ Kiddos that come back to say hi and you should see the light on their faces when the Older Youth come for a day and say hi. There is a feeling of relief and security for them that they will also “Arrive” at some point and be where they are. Hearing them working, getting jobs, moving out of their parents home with supports, all of this encourages our students to stick with it on those hard days.

“My Child WANTED to go to their Therapeutic programs for the first time in 5 years, KJ made them feel SEEN!”
